As part of this year’s London Festival of Architecture some of our design team turned their hands to LEGO for the 2016 RA LEGO Architecture Challenge. Now in its third year, the event has seen some of the world’s leading architects battle it out in front of an esteemed panel of judges.

The team headed to the Royal Academy to put their design talents to the test in an aim to explore this year’s theme of community.

‘For our LEGO city, we built a large bridge spanning a series of whimsical towers, under which the public were invited to place their own creations and populate the ground surface. We hoped to create a feeling of inclusion for all those who joined in, as this represents to us the best way in which a city or community may grow organically over time.’ David Campbell

Joao, David, Francesca, Peter and Will worked to create a Community Tube with the aim to display how thoughtful and effective design can stimulate and support ever evolving communities. The structure was a representation of a versatile space that could respond to the changing needs of local communities across generations.
